Steve Jobs announces three new applications of iPhone 2.0: eBay, “loopt” and TypePad. eBay looks pretty cool, it lets you watch, bid, look at pics, etc. “loopt” shows your friends on a Google Map in relation to you, can see what your friends have been doing today (pictures, comments, etc.), and even it can use with your friends on other carriers, other OSes. TypePad will be available for free-Lets you blog easily on iPhone interface, use camera, post photos, post to different categories. The most important thing is they are all free.
A certain, unnamed individual sent TUAW some pictures of the latest build of the iPhone firmware showing .Mac push e-mail. The picture shows the main Settings page with a new button: “Fetch new data.” When you click the button, you are taken to a list of your mail accounts, where you can choose between either “fetch” or “push.”
According to Mr. Anonymous, while .Mac is offering push e-mail, you are currently not able to do contact or calendar syncing.

Today Apple released the new version of iPhone SDK and firmware. There are some big changes in the new SDK (build 9M2173a, beta 5):
- API reference largely updated to beta 5 API.
- You can now pass a flag to preserve data files while uploading for Run/Debug/Go.
- You can now add the view of a
UIViewControllerto an arbitrary view. - Content purchased from iTunes Store will not sync to or play on devices with iPhone OS beta installed. iTunes will report that you need a newer update of the iPhone software to play the content.
- Code signing is now enforced on the device. This means that your project will need to have a certificate signing identity that resolves to a valid certificate in your keychain. If there is no identity entered, the code will run properly in the simulator, but will fail to execute on devices.
- The version of Foundation in the simulator platform includes functionality not included in iPhone OS. To ensure functionality is not used that is not present on iPhone, check the documentation for availability information.
- etc…
You can download the latest iPhone SDK from Apple’s iPhone Developer site, and the changes can be found here if you have an online SDK account.

Muxo is a small Mac OS X cli-tool that adds subtitle tracks to existing mp4 files. Now, it’s in a really early stage, and the tool only reads srt files. You can direct download the tool: Muxo 0.3.3 from here or from my mirror.
